Disaster Relief Letter

Disaster Relief Letter: St Luke’s Combined Hospices is appealing for urgent support following severe storms across the Western Cape.

In response to the recent severe storms across parts of the Western Cape, I am reaching out with an urgent appeal for support for the vulnerable patients, families and communities cared for by St Luke’s Combined Hospices.

Over the past few days, many already vulnerable households have been deeply affected by flooding, damaged homes, loss of belongings, cold conditions and food insecurity. Some of our own facilities and operational areas have also experienced storm-related damage, placing additional pressure on our ability to continue delivering care where it is needed most.

For more than 45 years, St Luke’s Combined Hospices has provided free, community-based and home-based palliative care to patients and families across the Western Cape. In times of crisis, this support becomes even more important.

I am humbly appealing to individuals, corporates, churches, schools, community groups and partners to stand with us by contributing towards emergency relief and repairs. Donations of food parcels, blankets, warm clothing, bedding, hygiene items, building materials or financial support will help us bring comfort, dignity and hope to those who need it most.

Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference to palliating patients, their families and the St Luke’s teams working to restore essential services in affected communities.

Thank you for your compassion, kindness and continued support.
