February 2026 Update

Message from St Luke’s Combined Hospices – February 2026

At St Luke’s Combined Hospices, everything we do is made possible because of the generosity and compassion of our donors. As our CEO, Dr Ronita Mahilall, shared so beautifully, your support allows us to provide dignified, compassionate palliative care to patients and families facing life-limiting illness — ensuring that no one has to walk this journey alone, regardless of their ability to pay.

Standing Together in Compassion

On 18 February 2026, we had the privilege of welcoming Arm in Arm in Africa, a humanitarian organisation based in Minnesota, USA, dedicated to restoring dignity and hope to vulnerable communities.
Their visit to our Grassy Park Day Hospice was deeply meaningful. Together, we stood in solidarity with our patients and families, sharing not only practical support through care parcels, but also warmth, presence and encouragement.
Moments like these remind us that compassion knows no borders.

The Difference Your Support Makes

The true impact of hospice care is reflected in the voices of the families we serve. One patient’s wife recently shared her heartfelt gratitude for our team — for the home visits, emotional support, kindness and even a much-needed grocery parcel during an incredibly difficult time.

Her words remind us why we do what we do. Caring for our patients means caring for their families too.

Join Us in Making a Difference

This year, we are excited to bring our community together through two special fundraising events.

Our very first Padel for Palliative Care tournament kicks off on 8 March 2026 and will culminate in a Finals Event on 16 May 2026. We look forward to welcoming over 1,100 players and supporters as we raise essential funds for hospice services.

We will also host our Charity Golf Day on Friday, 24 April 2026 at Rondebosch Golf Club.
Every swing taken on the day will help bring hope and dignity to vulnerable patients and families in our care.

Thank you for walking this journey with us. Your generosity makes compassionate care possible.
