This October, we are looking ahead to a wonderful season of community events, meaningful connections and opportunities to support the work of St Luke’s Combined Hospices.
As we continue providing compassionate palliative care to patients and families across the Western Cape, we are reminded that every act of kindness, no matter how small, helps us make a difference.
With cancer awareness in focus, we invite our community to join us for two special fundraising walks. The Vitacare Pharmacies Go Pink Walk on 31 October and the Shuffling Walking Team’s 5km Family Fun Walk on 1 November offer wonderful opportunities to come together, raise awareness and show support for those affected by cancer.
Looking towards the festive season, we are excited to share two events close to our hearts. Our annual Tree of Lights on 6 December will once again bring people together in a beautiful celebration of love, remembrance and hope. We are also looking forward to our Festive Movie Night at Kirstenbosch Gardens on 12 December, where families can enjoy Arthur Christmas under the stars while helping us raise R250 000 in support of more than 100 vulnerable patients and their families.
We are also pleased to share news of our charity shops in Maitland and Plumstead. These shops offer another meaningful way for our community to support our work, whether through shopping, donating pre-loved items or simply spreading the word. Our online auction also provides an opportunity to contribute, with donated goods helping us raise much-needed funds for patient care.
As we approach the end of another year, we want to thank every donor, volunteer, partner and supporter who continues to walk alongside us. Your generosity allows us to provide care, comfort and dignity to those who need it most.
